«La Bella Greca» or what is left

The artist Irini Tsiraki and the performer Frosso Zagoraiou who live and work in Paros, inspired by the heroine of the Greek revolution Manto Mavrogenous create an art installation in order to present it in the places where the heroine lived and acted.

The installation is developed in two parts:

Performance
It takes place in the alley where Manto’s house is located, in the central market of Parikia Paros. Today, in the same alley that the heroine walked for the last time, we are looking for traces of her passage. Dominant stage object is a garment made of different textures of white paper, and a red thread. The performance will be recorded and screened during the installation as a video art-document.

Art exhibition
Starting with a lithograph by Adam Friedel, the artist creates works in which she unfolds aspects of the heroine’s personality and her dialectical relationship with historically renowned female personalities. The thread of the performance functions as a connecting link, is located in the complexity of the paintings and relates them morphologically and conceptually to it.
